SWMRS Release Single “Berkeley’s On Fire” + Accompanying Music Video

In a smashing return, the Oakland based punk rock band, SWMRS, have released a new single “Berkeley’s On Fire” and leave no room for misinterpretation with this revolution inspired anthem. Holding true to their punk rock roots, SWMRS channel the likes of The Talking Heads, Beastie Boys, and London Calling in their energetic and direct single. The music video opens in a school classroom with an all girl class that is led to riot by another woman. We see a gradual increase in intensity of the riot as the song goes on while portraying a sense of not exactly knowing what is going on around you. In a post on instagram of the lyrics and notes for the single, we see the inspiration comes after participating in what CNN called a riot. These guys have set a tone for their music moving forward and are unapologetic for the noise they are willing to make for the youth.

In addition to the release of the single, SWMRS have also announced the lineup for their third annual show Uncool Halloween at The UC Theatre in downtown Berkeley, CA.
